please read over this file carefully, some things may not run as expected if you don't!


this pack is created with usage on Prism Launcher in mind. it should work on MultiMC, but remains untested.
installation on the standard minecraft launcher is possible, but not supported.


while this version of minecraft uses java 21, you should be prepared to have to run it on java 22 or later (i found c2me sometimes wants it?)
on the default minecraft launcher, i do not know how this is accomplished.
on prism, you can set the jvm directory and skip compatibility check and it will work.


you can use either an openjdk-based java or graalvm to play.
you can pick up mojang's java, adoptium, or azul from prism launcher directly (these are openjdk-based)
you can pick up graalvm from the website: https://www.graalvm.org/downloads
for openjdk-based java, i have included some settings in README-OPENJDK.txt
for graalvm, i have included some settings in README-GRAALVM.txt


as the pack ships, stick 4GB RAM on it and call it good.
if you are running extra bits like Distant Horizons or Bobby, I would recommend 8GB for the smoothest experience.
if you are running everything as well as the worldgen mods, ymmv. i need 16GB to run singleplayer with extended world height.
if you intend to run this pack on very low-end hardware, additionally see README-LOWEND.txt
i personally recommend you use openjdk as it uses less memory off-heap from my testing

PLEASE TAKE A MOMENT TO GO OVER MOD CONFIGURATIONS AND ADJUST THINGS TO YOUR LIKING.
THIS IS IMPORTANT IF YOU FIND DISCOMFORT FROM USING 'DO A BARREL ROLL', WHICH IS ENABLED BY DEFAULT.


i have included some mods which are disabled by default to avoid any interference or avoid the potential undesirables, as listed below

* this pack includes both Bobby and Distant Horizons.
  both of these mods serve the same purpose -- render chunks outside render distance
  - Distant Horizons will utilize LODs to increase your render distance with less performance impact, but shaders need to be made to be compatible.
    PLEASE NOTE: i do not ship my config with this, as your PC may leave a crater where it stands if this mod is mishandled.
	this mod will swallow your CPU whole if you let it as it builds LODs.
	render distance with this mod is controlled in the mod's settings.
  - Bobby will store chunk data as-is and render them in full quality.
    there is more performance impact, but it has worked with every shader i have tested so far.
	this mod will take huge chunks out of your VRAM if you run a high enough render distance, try Distant Horizons instead if you have issues.
	render distance with this mod is controlled by your vanilla render distance.
	the limit can be increased in the mod's settings, and in the config i ship i set it to go up to 64 chunks (only for the brave)

* this pack includes worldgen mods from Stardust Labs and YUNGNICKYOUNG.
  incompatibilities have not been reported at least in the 5 minutes of research I did, should be okay to use both.
  - to activate all of the content from Stardust Labs, enable the following mods:
    + Terralith
	+ Tectonic
	+ Nullscape
	+ Lithostitched
	+ Incendium
  - to activate all of the content from YUNGNICKYOUNG, enable all the mods with names starting with 'YUNG'
